  •  George has been a member of the Valley View Ferry since 1994 serving as Chairman for ten years from 1995 to 2005. The Valley View Ferry Authority, under George's leadership has applied for and received over $500,000.00 in Federal and State Grants. These grants have been used for capital improvements to the ferry . Some of these are; a new tow boat which George designed, a new safety cable system, a new car barge and the development of a scenic park on the Fayette / Jessamine side of the river. In addition to these grants George worked closely with Representatives and Senators from Jessamine and Madison counties in the 1998 General Assembly to secure more than $125,000.00 in annual funding so commuters and tourist can use and enjoy the ferry at no cost.

In 2002, the Valley View Ferry Authority, received a first place Kentucky Chamber of Commerce award for regionalization, specifically for the partnership formed between Fayette, Madison and Jessamine County to preserve the oldest ferry west of the Appalachian Mountains.

The Authority, composed of seven member's appointed by the three county governments, oversee the maintenance and daily operation of the the ferry. They are dedicated to providing a safe, dependable alternate mode of transportation, while preserving a part of our heritage.
