  • In 2001, George drafted a county ordinance protecting private cemeteries from being destroyed by development. Jessamine County was only the third county in Kentucky to pass a cemetery protection ordinance. At his request, the Nicholasville City Commission enacted similar legislation later in the year.

During the 2002 General Assembly George helped Bob Damron draft House Bill 22 which successfully passed and became law. This house bill increased penalties for the desecration of cemeteries and established Cemetery Boards in each county in Kentucky to help in the identification and preservation of private cemeteries.
